To the attention of Icelandic citizens permanently residing in Iceland.

E-visa from August, 01, 2023
In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, from August 1, 2023, the practical launch of the system for issuing electronic visas will take place. Electronic visas will be valid for the whole territory of Russia.
At the same time, there is a list of foreign states whose citizens can get electronic visa, which currently includes 52 countries. The list is approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 6, 2020 No. 2571-r. This list will be expanded in the near future. As for today, Denmark is included to this list.
An electronic visa is issued on the basis of a foreign citizen's application filled in electronically on the specialized website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs https://electronic-visa.kdmid.ru or through a mobile app which can be downloaded on the above mentioned website.
An application for electronic visa must be submitted via the website no later than 4 calendar days before the expected date of entry into the Russian Federation. A digital photograph of the face and a scan of the page with the data of the machine-readable passport of a foreign citizen must be attached to the application. No other documents are required to obtain e-visa.
In accordance with the current Russian legislation, the fee should be paid for a visa (via the same website).
An electronic visa entitles you to a single entry into the Russian Federation and stay in the Russian Federation with the following purposes:
1) Guest (private) visit
2) Business visit
3) Tourism
4) Participation in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, sports events and contacts, which have connection to such events.
The validity of the electronic visa is 60 days from the date of its issuance, but only with the permitted period of stay in Russia no more than 16 days from the date of entry into the territory of the Russian Federation.
Electronic visas are valid for entry into the Russian Federation and exit from the Russian Federation by air, pedestrian, road and water transport only through checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation, the list of which was approved by the order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 23, 2020. No. 2741-r. Currently, this list consists of 92 border checkpoints.
Transport companies and applicants can check that a foreign citizen has a valid unified electronic visa on a special automated website of the Russian Foreign Ministry at https://evisacheck.kdmid.ru. Information on the verification procedure will be available there from August, 01, 2023 in Russian and English.
NB! The “paper” visas are still issued by the Russian consulates. If electronic visa does not suits your trip to Russia (for example, you need multiple entry or you have a different purpose of your trip), one can apply for a “paper one”. Information about them is also posted on our website.
On the complete removal of restrictions on entry into the Russian Federation for foreign citizens and stateless persons
Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of July 14, 2022 No. 1267 declared changes after "coronavirus" related entry rules.
From July 15, 2022, all epidemic-related temporary restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals through air, sea, road, rail, pedestrian, river and mixed checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation have been lifted.
In other words, it is possible to enter Russia through any checkpoints, incl. land. The PCR test is not required.
Electronic visas are temporarily not issued. The resumption of their issuance will be announced later.
Attention! Recently, cases of arrival of foreign citizens to the Russian Federation with visas in an expired or canceled passport have become more frequent, because the visa is not affixed to a new passport. In such cases, entry to the territory of Russia is prohibited. We ask you to transfer the visa from the expired or canceled passport to a new passport before traveling to the Russian Federation.
Dear applicants! Please note that the Visa Application Center in Copenhagen has suspended its work in Denmark from 1 July 2021.
From 1 July 2021, all visa applications must be addressed directly to the consular section by appointment via the electronic appointment system.
